Lahore, July 30: A fact finding mission by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) investigating the causes of violence in Karachi and discussing solutions for sustainable peace there would hold a public hearing in the port city today (Sunday).

The public hearing would to be held at the Karachi Press Club at 3:30pm. The HRCP mission, comprising of HRCP council members from all provinces, has been in Karachi since July 29. The mission has requested the citizens of Karachi, particularly those from the severely affected areas, to attend the public hearing and share their experiences. By doing so, they would provide valuable contribution to the mission’s report and recommendations.

The HRCP mission has so far held meetings with representatives of political parties, NGOs, the Sindh Police IG, chief of the Citizen Police Liaison Committee, members of the Lyari Aman Committee, Karachi Transport Ittehad, workers of emergency and health services, business persons including members of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as intellectuals and educationists.
